September 2020 YOTM: 645 Northlake Drive
Congratulations Travis and Susan Tiner, our YOTM for September!
The Tiners have owned their home at 645 Northlake Drive for 5 years. Their landscape is a wonderful mix of annuals, perennials, raised beds, and hardscape, lending dimension and visual appeal from every angle. The front yard is welcoming with a water feature, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs surrounded by beautiful plantings. Many days you’ll find Travis watering, weeding, or adding something new. The front yard, however, is a mere primer to the oasis they have created in their back yard. When they purchased their home, the back yard was not landscaped and contained only turf. It was also primarily shaded until tree damage (last year’s June storm) and power company tree trimming opened a section of yard to the hot afternoon sun. Their transformation included adding hardscape decking, gas fire pit, dry riverbed, artificial turf, and a water feature which in reality is an oversized hot tub, that doubles as a cold tub in the summer. Their mix of plants includes among many other things a Little Gem Magnolia, Japanese maples, Yew, a Tulip Tree, 3 Dogwoods, a Weeping Red Bud, Crepe Myrtles, Hibiscus, Caladiums, Lamb’s Ear and much annual color. The Tiner’s passion for creating a comfortable and beautiful outdoor living space is evident!
