September 2024 Home of the Month
531 Bondstone Drive
Donna and I purchased our 1,137-square-foot home in 1998. After 15 years of living on Bondstone, we started to outgrow our space. We were faced with the possibility of having to leave Old Lake Highlands, the hidden gem of a neighborhood that we’d known and loved, to find the space we needed. We ultimately decided that it was worth staying in OLH with some modifications to the house.
Our home renovation journey began with expanding our living space and creating an open-concept design that perfectly suits our lifestyle. Before bringing our dream to life, Donna and I spent countless hours exploring design ideas through magazines, modern home tours, and the HOUZZ app, creating a storyboard of inspiration.
I’ve always wanted to be near water, so I knew our dream home wouldn’t be complete without a pool. We turned to LakePointe Pools in Rockwall, Texas, to bring our vision to life. The result is a charming pool that complements our modern backyard oasis. Now, we have the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor living, making our home the ultimate staycation spot. We couldn’t be happier that we invested in our own slice of paradise in Old Lake Highlands.
Every design element in our backyard was thoughtfully curated, drawing inspiration from our many travels. The focal point of our pool area is our highly cherished orange 1960s mid-century modern fireplace. From rocks, metal art, cacti, and succulents to beautiful Texas native plants, we’ve created a low-maintenance landscape that’s as sustainable as it is stylish. Our pool area, also known as “BondSpa,” continues to be our favorite part of the house year-round.
Creating a “She Cave” and The Ultimate Hangout Spot.
Our old, detached garage is now a modern-day "She Cave" and pool house! It’s the ultimate hangout spot for family and friends. When the weather allows, we open the glass garage door and wheel out the TV stand to watch our favorite sports poolside.
We’re thrilled to be recognized for our creativity and dedication to making Bondstone Drive even more beautiful!
